After helping thousands of women lose weight in their 20’s and 30’s, I recognized a difficult shift in women’s ability to get results in their body during their perimenopause years. With more than 12 years of experience in the fitness and nutrition industry, I have created a proven strategy to dramatically improve the challenges women face during this hormonally shifting time.
1. Around the age of 35 the ovaries begin to pass the baton to our adrenal system to handle our hormones. The adrenals are very sensitive to any cortisol since they’re already handling the stress system of our body. Any additional stress or cortisol to the body suppresses our progesterone, starting to throw the symbiotic relationship with estrogen off.
In other words, what we were handling in life that is not working for us, our body now becomes less capable or tolerant of handling. Depending on all of the stresses of your lifestyle, including food, movement, sleep, breath, environment, relationships, and work, the amount of stress on the body, and the habits that you have kept up until this stage in your life, will determine how significant your symptoms in perimenopause are.

Parts of the brain, such as the hippocampus, and the amygdala, which are responsible for memory encoding and retrieval, are very sensitive to the shifting of our main sex, hormones - estrogen and progesterone. That means that in this stage of life, we become less tolerant to past traumas we have ignored, to emotions that we suppress, and we become more aware of unresolved issues in our life up until this point, as well as how we have processed or handled emotions, make a significant impact on the symptoms that we experience through perimenopause to menopause.
